Fluency Named One of Vermont’s Best Places to Work for the Fifth Consecutive Year Amid Continued Growth

Ranked in Top 3 Since 2023, Company is Recognized for Its Ability to Grow the Innovative, People-First Culture Behind Its Digital Advertising Operating System

‍Burlington, Vermont - April 3, 2026 — Fluency, the digital advertising operating system that serves as a system of record for scaling paid media execution across all major channels, has been named a Best Place to Work in Vermont for the fifth consecutive year. Fluency ranked #2 in its category on this year's list.

For the first time, Fluency was recognized in the medium-sized business category, reflecting a year of significant headcount growth and market momentum. Fluency has shown that its commitment to its people is as scalable as the systems it builds. The company's continued recognition reinforces that an innovative, strong culture doesn’t just follow growth, it drives it.

Now in its third decade of recognizing excellence, the Best Places to Work in Vermont program was launched in 2006. This prestigious honor is organized by VermontBiz and supported by a partnership including VTSHRM (Vermont State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management), the Vermont Department of Economic Development, and the Workforce Research Group.

“Reaching this five-year milestone proves that the community we’ve built is as resilient as it is innovative," said Mike Lane, Fluency’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder. “Vermont is more than just our home base; it’s the blueprint for how we treat our team and our partners. We founded Fluency on the belief that people do their best work when they feel supported by their community, and seeing that philosophy result in five consecutive years as a 'Best Place to Work' is incredibly rewarding.”

At Fluency, the mission to help advertisers master scale and performance starts from within. The company operates on the belief that a connected Digital Advertising Operating System is only as powerful as the people who build and support it. This philosophy has fueled Fluency’s recognition as a 2026 Ad Age Best Place to Work for the second consecutive year, a Built In 2026 Best Place to Work, and now a five-time consecutive honoree as a Best Place to Work in Vermont.

“Five years of this recognition is a powerful validation of our 'people-first' philosophy," said Michelle Arnold, Head of Talent at Fluency. We don’t just build culture once; we show up and earn it every single day. Being named a Best Place to Work in Vermont for half a decade shows that our team feels as valued and inspired today as they did when we started. In a state that prizes authenticity, this milestone means everything to us.”

Fluency has intentionally designed a remote-first environment that prioritizes the human element of high-growth technology. From flexible working hours and competitive compensation to a health and wellness program consistently recognized at the Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness Gold Level, the company invests in the "whole person." By removing the friction of traditional corporate hurdles, Fluency empowers its teams to focus on what they do best: helping clients eliminate repetitive work, achieve audacious goals, and find genuine joy in their craft.

The "Best Places to Work in Vermont" ranking is determined through a rigorous, two-part evaluation designed to capture the full scope of the workplace. The first phase consists of a comprehensive audit of each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, accounting for 20% of the total score. The remaining 80% of the evaluation is derived from a confidential employee engagement survey, ensuring the final results are driven primarily by the authentic employee experience.

"The workspace for Vermont businesses has changed over the past several years due to Covid. Employees working remotely, hybrid working models and labor shortages have had a huge impact on Vermont businesses, but all Vermonters know that Vermont is a great place to live, work and play. We know that our employees are happy with their place of employment. The employers have created a work environment where the employees love to work. These employees and employers are committed to a productive workplace, be that while in the office or working remotely. This list is a testament to the fantastic companies here in Vermont. This list consists of businesses from every corner of Vermont with many diverse products and services", states Katie Kittell, Publisher, VermontBiz.

The integration of these two data sets determines the final rankings. In 2026, the program recognized 65 winners representing Vermont’s diverse economy, spanning a wide range of industries, products, and services. The full list can be found here.
