Job Title: System Engineer

Job Summary:

A System Engineer position is one that is highly technical and involves working directly with our Clients and the Fluency Team. This includes launching clients on our platform and managing and monitoring them ongoing. A System Engineer is core to our client relationships. The ability to be technical, project manage, QA, code, multitask, teach and build relationships is key to the position.

External Role Duties:

  • Establish post sale relationships with points of contact.
  • Educate users how to leverage the Fluency platform and then help them to it.
  • Help clients adapt old and new advertising strategies for the Fluency platform.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise - escalate issues to engineering team.
  • Travel to meet with clients, up to 25 percent, but typically less, we do not travel in the current COVID world.
  • Conduct scheduled meetings including QBRs

Internal Role Duties:

  • Report back to all internal stakeholders on client issues/problems/requests/sentiment.
  • Manage tickets on customer issues..
  • Contribute to onboarding guide/best practices.
  • Contribute to existing ‘how to’ guides for Fluency platform products and features.
  • Contribute to internal process documentation.
  • Identify KPIs to monitor the success of clients' post Fluency platform adoption (client
  • retention rate, client employee retention rate, increased ad budgets, advertising budgets etc.)

Team Overview:

The Fluency Engineering Team is detail-oriented and extraordinarily passionate about digital advertising. We blend the art and science of advertising into simple and scalable solutions to complex problems, and deliver leading edge software products to our customers.

The Fluency platform is built using a native AWS architecture. We use Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, Vue.js, Aurora, S3, Elastic Beanstalk along with whatever else makes sense for the job at hand.

Job Summary:

This Software Engineer position is full time remote. We have a Burlington, VT office as well. This position works closely with the entire engineering team and key stakeholders across the company to execute our strategic priorities. A Senior Software Engineer has strong leadership skills and is able to self direct. This position requires self management, including self learning, with the ability to write the best possible code while guiding others on best practices. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker that is highly motivated to execute and capable of wearing multiple hats every day.

Role Duties:

  • Generate predictive models and recommendations for advertising strategy changes.
  • Determine “peer” data sets for comparative analysis.
  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Inform, influence, support, and execute our product decisions and product launches.
  • Forecasting and setting product team goals.
  • Designing and evaluating experiments as well as monitoring key product metrics.
  • Exploratory Analysis: Proposing what to build in the next roadmap. Understanding ecosystems, user behaviors, and long-term trends. Identifying new levers to help move key metrics. Building models of consumer behaviors for analysis or to power production systems.

What We Look For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics or related field, Masters preferred
  • Five plus years experience within a consumer technology company
  • Expertise with complex quantitative analysis and working with distributed or highly complex datasets
  • Comfortable with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, MATLAB)
  • Proven experience with applied statistics or experimentation (i.e. A/B testing)
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present analyses results to leadership teams to develop priorities and influence strategy

  • Articulate and convey Fluency’s competitive differentiators, both internally and externally
  • Contribute to revenue modeling and appropriate pricing strategies for product offerings
  • Drive effective adoption of new products and features through established marketing materials, internal and external and rollout plans
  • Collaborate with business development, product engineers, marketing and channel partners to understand and anticipate evolving needs and wants of clients
  • Be an internal leader and partner for understanding, articulating, and solving complex business problems related to platforms, systems, and infrastructure
  • Consult on large cross-functional technical projects like major migrations or integrations, platform and infrastructure changes, or architectural optimizations
  • Identify issues and blockers that may delay the launch or impede the success of projects
  • Work directly with technical leaders across the organization as a partner, helping to problem solve and ensure alignment with overall product strategy
  • Communicate progress and strategic evolution regularly to senior executives
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the product development organization, focusing on quality, reliability, and the appropriate level of scalability

What We Look For:

  • Ten plus years of product management experience with a focus on platforms and systems and five plus years in digital advertising products, e-commerce, or relevant industry
  • Strategy and analysis experience, MBA preferred
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, prioritize and evaluate opportunistic ideas with internal and external partners
  • Experience establishing, leading, and inspiring world class development
  • Knowledge of data-driven development methodologies and current development strategies
  • Understanding of web technologies and experience with a JavaScript framework such as VueJS, React, Angular, etc a plus.
